When someone dies, we generally get a DNE notice from Social Security. It lists the SSN of the person entitled to the benefits, so it's easy on a joint account to figure out whose payments is whose. However, some payments, such as VA benefits, don't seem to list the SSN. Is anyone aware of whether or not there is an addendum or other record on such payments that might help determine the SSN/payee?

ACH files have a field titled "Individual Name." This should be available in the ACH details in the customers transaction history on your core system (we use Jack Henry 20/20). If you can't see it there, you should be able to at least see it on your ACH warehouse report.

I just checked our ACH warehouse report from May 1st. I found several ACHs with the company name listed as US TREASURY 310. The entry description says XXVA BENEF. The Individual Name field has our customer's name listed & the Individual ID has their SSN listed. You should be receiving the same information.
