#1706404 - 06/04/12 09:17 PM Flood Zone AE - Insurance Zone A07
FLOODED

I was always told they had to match exactly, but don't understand what A07 means as I have not come upon it before. Can anyone tell me if this is just a designation that is OK because they both start with A or is it a non-compliant insurance policy because it doesn't match the flood certification exactly? I appreciate your help.

As long as the first letter matches, you are OK.

AE is the new format. A1-30 is the old format.

AE = The base floodplain where base flood elevations are provided. AE Zones are now used on new format FIRMs instead of A1-A30 Zones.

A1-30 = These are known as numbered A Zones (e.g., A7 or A14). This is the base floodplain where the FIRM shows a BFE (old format).

But as Randy said, as long as the policy is written for an A zone and the property is in an A zone, you are good.

This is a great summary of what all the zones mean.
