We are having a discussion regarding employee files. Could someone please give us some guidance as to how many files should each employee have and what should be included in each file? Thank you.

1. Employee Work History includes: application, disclipinary action, training, transfers, promotions, exempt/non-exempt classification
2. Medical includes: FMLA documentation, worker's comp, drug screen, medical benefits,
You should also have 1 file with I-9's for all employees, 1 file for any investigations of harassment, discrimination, background checks, grievances, etc. It is also recommended that you have a file to keep addendums to applications that contain info for AAP, if you do this. We were also told to keep another file for anything ADA related. (I attended a seminar yesterday) This is just a guideline. We did not discuss every form.
