I'm having difficulty sorting through this issue. According to some information I have found so far, it IS permissible for the (mortgage) lender to also be the settlement agent. But I just ran across a blog via Google that says in NYS the lender CANNOT be a settlement agent and a settlement agent MUST be a licensed attorney. I can't find the citation of the law that says this is a requirement. Does anyone know of the citation or where to begin searching for it? Thank you confused
