Is there something in writing that states each person on the account must have separte user ID's/account credentials for online banking?

We have a wife who has five accounts, but her husband only signs on two of them. To add the husband to the two accounts, the wife must sign a waiver saying the husband will have access to view all of the wife's account. Is this allowed?

I think the husband should only be able to view the accounts that he signs on.

Please advise.

Thanks.

And I agree with you. The problem sometimes is caused by inadequate (or inflexible) online systems that only provide for access on a 1-to-1 basis (one account, one user). Some of the problems we hear about most often come from allowing inappropriate cross-ownership access either because of system shortcomings or because the bank allowed an authorized signer to use the same login creds for personal accounts and accounts on which he/she is only an authorized signer.

Our vendor can set up profiles by social security number, so it can be done, I just didnt know if there was anything in writing by the regulators.
