Should or are we required to have Member FDIC on mobile banking?

I think they mean visible in the mobile banking app (based on the title of the thread).

That still doesn't tell me anything. There are lots of things available on mobile banking applications, including advertisements.

Our mobile app allows customers to access their account balances, see transactions that have cleared the account, transfer funds from only our accounts, pay bills, etc...

Do don't have any advertisments on the app itself about account types or loans.

I didn't know if the app containing our logo should be considered an "advertisment" or not and therefore requiring the Member FDIC.

Are there any other thoughts on this issue?

I have apps for two banks on my phone. One, for a megabank, has "Member FDIC" and "Equal Opportunity Lender" in pretty small text on the front "landing" page of the app (why the EOL legend is there is a mystery; there's no ad in the app). The second is from a regional bank where I do most of my banking. They have neither legend anywhere on the app.

We put it on ours. More of a better-safe-than-sorry approach. Most of our vendor's banks were doing it, so we wanted to be with the cool kids. It is on our launch screen (screen that appears for a few seconds while the app loads).

On the app itself I say it need not be present. This is not an advertisement for a product, it is a product the customer already has. This was explored many years ago when internet banking was new.

If, however, you do advertise a new product subject to insurance on your app or use a screen-capture of that app in an advertisement, the "Member FDIC" or alternative needs to be there.

Ours is not on the app "tile" that you see when looking at all the apps on your phone. Member FDIC is on the launch screen above and under our logo on the heading once you have logged into the app.

So the next question, do you have any NDIP products available on the app? (You see where I'm going with this.)

Nope. We do not. But a good point, just in case they get creative.

As I read this thread I was hoping to find some reference to where I can find the requirement (or lack thereof) to have Member FDIC or EOL on our mobile app. We do not advertise anything, just provide access to accounts, balances, transfers etc...

Our internet banking provider automatically placed (at no charge) the text "Federally Insured by NCUA. Equal Housing Lender" on the login screen for our mobile banking app. Our app doesn't have account origination.
