Would there be an issue if a client orally requests a one time ACH payment debiting their checking account and crediting their credit card for a one time ACH payment, or should we require something in writing? If something is required in writing, would it be an initial authorization or a written authorization every time they request and ACH payment?

There are exceptions to the written authorization requirement. A TEL debit entry can be authorized orally under NACHA rules subsection 2.5.15.
