With the game coming up this weekend, thought I'd stir the pot a little bit. Curious to see the thoughts of fellow BOLers....favorite QB, Brady or Manning? No need to qualify your statement, just wanna know.
For me......Manning.

Manning. Unless he's completely got me snookered, he seems like one of the genuinely good guys in sports, and a tremendous talent.

As painful as it is for me to acknowledge a player from the team up north, I would have to say Brady has done more with less.

May be biased, but definitely Manning. As a QB, as a pitchman in various commercials, and as a SNL host. Curious about the more with less comment, DD. Brady has certainly had more team success (playoff victories and rings), but am I wrong in thinking he has played on better overall teams?

Let's distill things: Manning: career 65.4 Cmp%, 5.7 TD%, 2.6 INT%, 7.7 Y/A, 96.8 Rate Brady: career 63.4 Cmp%, 5.5 TD%, 2.1 INT%, 7.5 Y/A, 95.8 Rate So all this talk about Manning putting up "better stats" is pretty misguided...he has a slight edge in a number of categories, but only slight (and both players are ridiculous in these areas), and those edges are roughly cancelled out by Brady's significantly better INT%. But now account for the fact that Manning: -Has had better weapons to work with most seasons -Played in a dome with speed turf vs Brady playing outdoors in New England. So, if Manning and Brady are statistically the same regular season QB, but Manning has had all the handicap benefits, that quite clearly makes Brady the superior REGULAR season QB (and explains why Brady has a significantly higher career winning percentage). Throw in that Brady has undeniably been the better postseason QB...and you have Brady, the better QB overall. Manning is a slam dunk HOFer and one of the best to play the position. But Brady might be THE best QB ever, and objectively is a tier ahead of Manning.
Brady has had the better coach and defenses to work with, where Peyton has a had the better recieving core.

As painful as it is for me to acknowledge a player from the team up north, I would have to say Brady has done more with less. I must respectfully disagree. Manning and Brady receivers (all of them) had or have the luxury of having Manning or Brady at QB. Both of these guys are just so good its ridiculous and both will be in the HOF 1.5 seconds after they have reached eligibility. But to provide my disagreement....... Tom Brady goes down for a year and NE still finishes with a record of 11-5. Peyton Manning is out for a year and Indy finishes with a record of 2-14.....essentially the same playoff team from a year before...minus Manning.

Manning is the better QB, but Brady's got a supermodel wife. I'll take Brady.

We are really splittign hairs. They are both amazing. Manning is more likable, personable and not from UofM.
Quality of back up at New England compared to the no bodies behind Manning.
This argument has been made for years.
Bradshaw or Staubach or Tarkington Mareno or Montana or Elway Star or Unitas or Namath

"I would expect Manning to win favorite easily - best would yield such a heated discussion I'm afraid that football would end up being added to politics and religion as things we are not allowed to discuss here"
I dunno...i saw a poll on espn.com the other day asking if Manning was the "best QB in the last 40 years" and i believe it was 70-75% that said yes. I guess it's debatable, but i think the clear consensus is that Manning's better.

Just to clarify: i'm not saying Manning is better (well, i AM saying that, but that's not the point).....i think America as a whole is saying that Manning is better.

I guess it's debatable, but i think the clear consensus is that Manning's better. Those poll results are very surprising. Wait, it was an ESECPN poll you said? And Peyton played where in college? ::does a little simple math in his head:: No, nevermind, it all adds up But seriously, as much as I love Manning, I'm confident I could make a strong argument that Brady is better. (then immediately repent)

But seriously, as much as I love Manning, I'm confident I could make a strong argument that Brady is better. (then immediately repent) You could absolutely make the argument, and wouldn't be wrong in doing so. On the other hand, I'm confident I could make a strong argument that Manning is better (with no repentance required ) and I also would not be wrong in doing so. The truth of the matter is that "Who's better?" is a question that can never truly be answered. For every argument that exists in favor of or against Tom Brady, Peyton Manning has just as many arguments in favor of or against him (or vise-versa). That's the reason I posed the original question. Which of the two QBs is your favorite, not which is better.....again, my favorite is Manning (coincidentally, [and biased perhaps] I also think he's better )

And this is still a conversation because....???
I respect the heck out of Peyton-great player, great numbers and seems to be a nice guy. However, if I have to pick one QB to win a game it is Brady hands down. No one can ever say Brady had better weapons overall. If you compare the overall offensive talent the Colts had, Manning should have more than one ring. Brady has done more with less. Peyton seems to be the type that needs everything to run perfectly to win. One snafu and he can't put it together. JMHO. I am completely unbiased...

Q: How can you say that Peyton Manning isn't the greatest? A: Tom Brady exists..... Q: How can you say that Tom Brady isn't the greatest? A: Petyon Manning exists..... Who's the greatest? is an endless loop that can be argued for decades but can never be definitvely answered. And will be renewed in the next generation by QB X and QB Y. This argument has been made for years.
