Good morning. Can anyone point me in the direction that shows me how to de-activate an MLO. They are still employed at the bank, just not in that function. I have called the NMLS helpdesk but I am still stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!

You could simply allow the employee's registration to lapse at the end of the year.

That is what I thought too John, but an external auditor said it should be done as soon as possible.

Your admin should be able to log into the system and terminate them as a MLO.

I am an admin and I finally got it taken care of. The NMLS is not user friendly-at least I didn't think so.

I agree JWills. I don't log in very often so when I do I normally have to hunt around.

You took the better approach. Non-renewal would have been OK if we were looking at the question near the end of the renewal "window."

It was sad--as I was one of our original MLO's.

We have a similar situation and I'm OK with allowing them to lapse during the renewal period. They will still have a number should they ever decide to come back to the exciting world of mortgage lending.

This may sound silly, but shouldn't he be removed from our posted list of MLO's. He's removed his number from biz cards and e-mail sig blocks, but his name is still on the website. Can't believe I'm going to have this discussion but it's not as though folks could look at the list and pick him. He doesn't do that anymore. Feel free to correct me if I'm missing something.

If he isn't acting as an MLO for your bank, he should not be listed.

I had my name removed from the listing for our bank.
