If a box is owned by an individual, after their death, can a personal representative close the box immediately? or just do the search procedure?

Under the search procedure in Title 6 O.S. Sec. 1308, a spouse, parent, lineal heir or executor named in a will can access the box once the bank knows the customer is dead and can take originals of a will, a grantor trust, burial instructions and any insurance policy that names the person doing the search as the beneficiary. The bank make copies and of the documents taken and puts them in the box noting who took the originals. Anything else stays in the box until either a personal representative is appointed by a probate court or the procedure under Title 6 O.S. Sec. 906 A.2. or under Title 58 O.S. Sec. 393 for heirship affidavits is used to claim the contents.
