What is your go-to resource for either disposing older computers or donating the machines? In the past we either donated them to local schools or threw them away with hard-drives removed and holes drilled through the center. Is it good practice to do this or any better ideas?

Thanks!

OOOOOOklahoma
We donate ours to local schools where greater than 50% of the students are eligible for free/reduced lunch. We get CRA consideration for in-kind donations to predominantly LMI schools.

The FCRA has disposal requirements for these types of things. Drilling the HD is a great way of rendering it useless otherwise it needs to be carefully wiped.
