Ya hey dar! I would LOVE to live up north - hopefully when I retire - but Wisconsin taxes your pension - YUCK! : )

Luv my puppy - you know we haven't got snow in Northern IL (measurable) in YEARS - so dream a little with me, won't ya?

Aren't there any snow lovers out there?

Yes, I know, but I can't afford anything on a lake in the UP and the housing off the lake (at least where I've snowmobiled) is not all that great. I also snowmobile in Wisconsin - and there is a Yooper restaurant up there in Eagle River I think. So the Yooper spirit lives on -even through the cheese curtain. : )

I say dreamin' of the UP cuz that's where the snow's been the last few years and (hush) the trails are wider and not as crowded. But we hang out in Vilas and Price Counties alot too!

Ok - I can wait until winter I suppose. I will just have to ride on the grass for awhile. Can winter start December 1st this year? Please....

*puzzled* Where are you looking at property? Very few of us live in homes without running water, flushing toilets, central heating, cable, even (gasp) high-speed internet service...despite the Yooper stereotypes!

I was afraid that might spark some controversy. We looked at some property around Lake Gogebic. The stuff on the lake was awesome, the stuff off the lake not so much so. I'm not saying there's no running water, etc. Heck, you'd die up there without those things! I just mean I didn't find anything I wanted to spend the money on off the lake. Just a personal decision - no offense. I love it up there!

I always thought Eagle River was kind of expensive. And I thought, all a snowmobiler needed was snow, a machine, and a bar to drive to. And there are plenty of those in the U.P!

No offense taken. It was just the end of a long day. Sorry if I over-reacted.

I love it here too!

I am anxiously awaiting snow this year. The last 3 years have not produced adequate snowmobiling snow. I don't think I will be getting a new sled this year, but I still have the desire to get out and ride!!! The UP is great for sledding but we usually stay in Minnesota. Some great riding here!

Yes, I am jealous of you! You are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place and it sounds like the first snows are going to fly up there this weekend. I heard maybe even enough to cover the ground! It will be short-lived but beautiful! Maybe I'll see ya up there this winter - I plan on several trips this season!

I heard the northern part of Minnesota may get a dusting of snow. Not looking forward to the cold weather yet. Hoping for early snow and having it stay!

I love the snow, from about December 1st to 25th. Gets me in the Christmas spirit. But it could melt on the 26th as far as I care. I got so tired of the cold gray Januarys with 30 out of 31 days with no sun, and now I high tail it down to the Sunshine State until all the snow is melted (mid April).

Is there still a sunshine state? Thought it may have disappeared with all the hurricanes.

I hear you though, nothing like sunshine and a warm beach to cure the mid-winter blues!

I am not ready for this! It's only supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Guess I better pack my coat for the 11:30 kickoff in Norman!

SkiDoo come play with me I can find you some snow left over from a couple of weeks ago when we got six inches. The mountains are covered with termination dust and I know Nome has something you could slide around on by now

Dawnie that is a dream trip for me & my hubbie. We have been discussing two big trips for our 10 yr anniversary (2 1/2 years away) - one on the Snow Train in Canada and another cruise and sled trip in Alaska. If we can wing it financially - we'll have to look you up!

We actually had FROST here today. Can't ride on it - but that doesn't stop us. I picked up my new baby on Saturday and took her for a spin around the yard --- on grass. Every see those ads for Artic Cat where the person is all dressed in their snowmobiling gear and its summer outside? Just waiting for snow!
