this is one of those, if you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring 5 CDs to listen to, what would they be?
Mine are:

- Lynyrd Skynyrd: Pronounced
- Down: Nola
- AC/DC: High Voltage
- Judas Priest: Stained Class
- AC/DC: Highway to Hell

Those are just 5 out of my CD collection of about 1,200... I would bring alot more if I knew I was going to be stranded...

Can I bring my guitar with me? If so, I'd pick the following to listen to. If not, I'd have to think a lot harder about it.

  • Gershwin: Rhapsody In Blue/An American In Paris/GrofĂ©: Grand Canyon Suite - But it has to be Leonard Bernstein's recording.
  • Beyond Nature - Phil Keaggy
  • Handel's Messiah
  • Rachmanioff's Second Piano Concerto
  • Beethoven's piano sonata's "Appassionata," Pathetique," and "Moonlight."
  • Aaron Copland's Billy the Kid, Appalachian Spring, and Rodeo

If I'm going to be there 5 years, I'd want some music with substance. These can be listened to over and over and still sound fresh.

that is definitely key. those albums that i listed, never get old with me. i have alot more that i could pick but those were the ones that just rolled off the top of my head right away.

This is what i would choose today
1. Dave Matthews Band-Live at Red Rocks
2. Simon and Garfunkel-The Concert at Central Park
3. Third Day-Offerings & Offerings II (ok thats cheating)
4. Jars of Clay-From the Studio/From the Stage
5. James Taylor-Greatest Hits
Bonus CD: Grateful Dead-Dozin' at the Knick

fortunately, I keep all of my cd's together so i wouldnt have to choose.

Allman Brothers- Dreams

This would be a tougher question if it was limited to non-greatest hits CDs. 4 of my 5 are compilations!

True Blue- nice choice! Outlaws were great. Always thought it should have worked out better for them. Their first album was a gem as well.

One of these things is not like the others. One of these things does not appear to belong!

How in the world did Mannilow end up on the same list with Dokken, Linkin Park, etc.?

Because my normal taste in music is the other 4 bands I have listed but I'm also proud to be one of Barry's biggest fans and not shy to admit it so I would have to have a Barry CD with me.

The only one I can positively say is always on my list is The Ramones - All the Stuff & More. I have so many favorites. Maybe the Clueless Soundtrack?

Has anyone heard the new Camper Van Beethoven CD? I loved their stuff (before Cracker) and am wondering if this new one is any good......

I agree! My favorite off the album is rotten apple. Actually, I'd take any of their CD's with me, can't get enough of them.

All right! Somebody else picked classical music! And two very nice works, I might add. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is excellent, but if I had to pick Mozart, I choose Symphony No. 40 or Cosi Fan Tutti, because they're longer.

Currently, I am listening to:

Bach, the Goldberg Variations, performed by Glenn Gould

I will likely follow it either by:

Margaret Price sings Mozart (sublime)

OR

Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here

OR maybe

ENO and CALE, Wrong Way Up

Or maybe

Badly Drawn Boy, The Hour of the Bewilderbeast

or maybe

April Wine, the Nature of the Beast

Are these my five favorites. No, I don't have 5 favorites. (Steve Winwood--Arc of a Diver would be in the list if I did and probably Pat Metheny Group's first album)

OK, I was wrong, I am now listening to John Anderson's second album from way, way back. You might remember I'm Just an Old Chunk of Coal. I have been listening to Merle Haggard in the car, so I think it put me in the mood for some good old honky tonk music.

Well it took me a long while but I finally came up with a 'final' 5 list.

In no particular order:

1. The Ramones - All the Stuff & More
2. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Greatest Hits
3. Echo & The Bunnymen - Echo & The Bunnymen
4. Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Let's Face It
5. Soundtrack to "French Kiss".

That took a lot of thought. And I just bought the new Camper Van Beethoven CD but haven't listened to it, only time will tell whether that will become a contendah.....

7. Sublime-Self-titled

And, I just bought the new Snoop CD - I love it, but I think anything by The Neptunes (produced the CD) is just awesome.

Hard to decide but...

1. Metallica - Master of Puppets
2. Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
3. Tesla - (all of them) ok - the Live CD
4. Disturbed - first album (can't remember title)
5. Evanescence - first album

There would be so many others, but I guess if I could only take 5.

4. Disturbed - first album (can't remember title)

The Sickness, great album. Saw them in concert and they were incredible (so was Drowning Pool... rip)!

I'm going to go a step farther and tell why I like each one.

1. MetallicA - Master of Puppets - every song is great
2. MetallicA - Black Album - The Unforgiven is the reason I started listening to MetallicA
3. MetallicA - Ride the Lightning - Fade to Black is great!
4. MetallicA - S&M - Very unique. Live with the San Franscisco Orchestra conducted by the late Michael Kamen. No Leaf Clover alone is worth buying the album.
5. MetallicA - And Justice For All - One...

By the way, I love MetallicA. They are the only group I'd pay good money to see in concert.

Haha, well I guess the overabundance of AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Led Zepplin, and Aerosmith speaks as well!

I would have to choose,
Toby Keith - shocking ya'll
2pac - All Eyes on Me
Green Day - Dookie
Flaw - Through the Eyes
Brad Paisley - Mud on the Tires

Variety is the spice of life.

Sorry, haven't had a chance to get on lately... check out their cd, "Comalies". Good stuff.
I saw them on Ozzfest this year and they were really good, very surprising.
