We are looking for some ideas for our supervisor's 40th birthday. She has a pretty good sense of humor and really has fun with our birthdays. We would like to make this one extra "special" for her, if you know what I mean? Any pranks or jokes would be greatly appreciated!!

Fill her office with balloons. Confettios all over the desk or any flat surface available. A singing banana to come by during the day (you can hire those.)

I'm not much on pranks or jokes. Instead, how about getting 40 different employees to each write a note about how much she is appreciated or what she has done to help them. Put all of the notes in a nice gift box.

Everyone dress as if they're attending a funeral.

Have everyone dress in black, wearing buttons that say "Mary is 40". Mary would have a "special" one that says "I'm Mary".
You could also put a "shroud" over her desk by hanging black toile from the ceiling.

We had a singing cow for someone's 50th, it was corny, but hysterical to see her dancing with it...

I was on vacation the week of my 40th... preemptive.

They did a version of this for me on my fortieth. Everyone wore little buttons they'd made that said "we're all wearing black to mourn the passing of your youth!" It was great fun especially because my husband had just bought me a creamy white dress that I wore to work that day so I looked like a virgin amid all the black.

For a former supervisor's 40th - we got a male stripper! I don't think she ever forgave me! Her husband was in on it and thought it great fun. For her former boss, we had a hearse drive up to the office to take him out to lunch - the death of his youth! For my existing boss, I provided a care package of items needed in one's old age - prune juice, depends, geritol, .... you get the idea. When mine rolled around a few months later I got some of it back!

In one bank I worked at, we replaced their desk chair with a wheelchair, a lap blanket, and a pillow

For my sister's 40th, I got her a cane that we all added to - a rear-view mirror, horn, etc. 40 black balloons, really decorated her home to the nines in black over-the-hill stuff.

Get some funny old pictures or newspaper ads of her from co-workers, her spouse, or her family members. Enlarge on the copier and put in strange places like the back of the bathroom door, in files on her desk, inside the fridge. It will drive her crazy all day wondering where the next one will pop up.

Do you have any bank meetings that day like a board meeting or a committee meeting? If so, put the pictures in everyone's meeting binder.
