MOML and I will celebrate 25 years of wedded bliss on Jan. 19th. But, being so close to Christmas, I run out of gift ideas. We might be going to Las Vegas for a trip, but I would like to give him a gift. Any suggestions? No jewelry please; I got him all he will wear for his 40th and 50th birthdays.

If you still have some of the things from your wedding, you could frame an invitation, church program, newspaper announcement, etc. And/or send him the kind of flowers you carried on the big day.

Michael P. MOML is a practical, frugal man. When he wants something badly enough, he goes out and gets it himself. He hunts, fishes, runs, gardens. He is a bank director. He already has many guns, fishing rods and reels, running shoes and still hasn't used the gardening markers I gave him in his Christmas stocking three years ago. I am stumped, and hope you all can give me some suggestions of things I haven't thought of already.

My dad gave my mom a sterling silver champagne bucket filled with red roses. After the big event, we always filled it with silk flower for the season so we'd have a constant reminder of that milestone.

You know what he wants more than anything? YOU!

From the way you described him, he's a typical.... MAN!

Most men don't get all crazy about wanting big fancy presents for anniversary or birthday gifts. Instead, consider giving him a weekend at the lake consisting of fishing, relaxing, and most importantly, you.

How about a hot tub? Or if that is not something you'd like to own, you could leave him a note and a key to meet you at a local hotel with a hot tub in the room. Put candles around, take a CD player, put rose petals in the tub. You can build the suspense all week by writing him notes with hints and putting them in surprise places like his desk drawer, jacket pocket, etc.

How about a gift to a not-for-profit organization that he has an interest in? Just put the gift in his name......

On our 25th we took a trip (5 days). David enjoyed the card more than a gift because he also buys what he wants when he wants it. He made me a cd with songs that were special to us. He used a wedding picture on the front of the cd holder.

Enjoy your day and I hope you have many more.

I like the cruise idea! We went with friends this year on a cruise and they were celebrating their 25th. We had a great time! Without their knowledge in advance, we had the cruise line decorate their cabin for the event and it was very nice when they opened the door to the cabin and saw the decorations. My friend called their cabin the "anniversary suite" and it was very nice to be part of their celebration. The cruise lines all offer some wonderful ways to celebrate special lifetime events.

For my parents 35th, my brothers and I got a suite at a
hotel, furnished with grape juice (they dont drink), strawberries, whipped cream, and laid a nightie on the bed for her. Nothing for him of course, because, well, we wont go there with that. They had no idea where they were going. WE blind folded them both and took them to their love nest for the night. they loved it.

-I did the cd for my husband last year. He liked it.
-For our 30th, I bought him a big, comfy lounge chair. I'm thinking of upgrading him to leather this year.
-Last year I also have him golf lessons with the pro at his club. He'd talked about doing it and didn't realize I was listening. It's helped him shave 3-5 strokes off his game so he's thrilled! Could you do something similar with a profisherman or hunter for your guy?

Know what you mean about gifts, tho, our anniversary is the week before Christmas.

Happy Anniversary!
