Does this story sound familiar to anyone else?

I know the movie was supposed to make fun of how silly the Reagan defense build-up was, but this is pretty cool stuff.

Sounds like "Real Genius" to me! I wonder if they got the idea for the system from Val Kilmer?

Can the US government be sued for stealing intellectual property from the makers of the film for actually building this?
