Then Ben must be the second coming of Trent Dilfer.
Naw, he's not that good.

As a Steelers fan and a fellow Ben fan, i think we can and should expect far better than the second coming of Culpepper.

The other hopeful would be Jason White. I don't know how close they were to getting the Heisman, but I know they were in the running. I felt bad for Jason White. A lot of people trashed him after the Sugar Bowl for being overrated. I think he and his defensive line did the best they could, but LSU's defense was just amazing! They had a defensive scheme named after every state. When they ran out of states, they used bird names, etc...
I don't really mean to bash Eli. I'm glad to see some SEC boys do well. I don't think that the SEC gets the respect it deserves in the media.

But, but, but Jason White was not a Heisman hopeful, he was an injured Heisman winner when he played LSU. I am not saying OU would have beaten LSU with a healthy Jason White. Granted, he did not play well against LSU, but he was injured. Right Boomermom?

Injured, I thought he had already undergone bionic reconstruction by that point. (JK) I'm just throwing my hat in the ring for the fun of it. Please don't quote me when I babble about sports. I am confident, however, that the right two teams played in the Sugar Bowl last year.

"I am confident, however, that the right two teams played in the Sugar Bowl last year." I don't think we want to make this a BCS bashing thread...however, I would be interested in seeing what everyone thinks about this.

QB ratings aren't a percentage. Do you mean his completion percentage?

Hey, Ricky did not wash out in the NFL--he succeeded on the field. It is in his head that he did not succeed!

Yeah, if the guy could get his head on straight, he might not be a Hall of Famer, but he could be a good back for a few years and retire with a bunch of money in the bank.

Anyone know what happened to the others that were nominated the same year as Ricky Williams?
I wasn't commenting on his ability, it's just a shame that someone wins the grandest award in college football and instead of being a role model for other college athletes, he proves himself as a poster child for bad boy behavior. He whines, he complains and then he decides to take his toys and go home. Fine, the NFL is better off without the likes of him.

yeah, guess this proves that Eli will never amount to anything. Giants should cut him now and move on.
Yeah, sounds like the second coming of John Elway's, Troy Aikman's, and Terry Bradshaw's rookie seasons--I'd definitely cut him. It is not worth the risk. I'd much rather pay him to be off the team than to pay him to continue to be a disruptive force on the team. Good riddance to bad trash, I say!

"Under Kurt Warner, the Giants were 5-4 and outscored opponents 186 to 158. Since Eli Manning took over, the Giants have gone 0-3 and have been outscored 72-23"
This says that the Giants should never have started Eli this year...they were in contention for the playoffs under Warner (and still are if they put him back in). They should have followed (and i still can't belive i'm saying this) the plan that the Bungles used for Carson Palmer. He sat his entire rookie year (didn't even take a snap in a blowout) and look at the improvement he is showing this year.
