OK
OK, we've had favorite songs, etc. What is everyone's favorite Christmas movie? There are 2 that get played at our house every year.

A Christmas Story - (the one with the Red Ryder BB Gun)
Christmas Vacation - (with Chevy Chase)

Christmas vacation. favorite scenes:

"What's the matter with the dog, Eddie?" "Oh, never mind him, Clark, he's just yackin' up a bone."

Eddie's draining the RV's waste tank into the storm sewer.

Tree crashing through yuppie neighbors' bedroom.

Scrooged is one of my favorites, but my all time favorite is still Charlie Brown's Christmas

QUITE POSSIBLY THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. Seriously, I like a good bawdy movie ever now and again, but there was virtually no point to the entire movie and BBT just blew it. Yuck.

Sorry, but I really dislike A Christmas Story. Probably because of overkill. Always on, always on tape.

I don't understand that either, because it is my generation, very reminicent of my childhood. The same kind of lower middle class neighborhood, the same clothes, the same school, and I had a great childhood. So I don't get why I don't like it.

Anyone care to psychoanalyze?

i think b/c its from the point of view from a cute little kid. it's something different, instead of wishing peace for everyone, yada, he wants something for himself. he is selfish and everyone can be but don't show it around the holidays.
the dad is a little older and it's somewhat hard for him to relate to his young kids but wants to do the best for them by buying ralphie what he really wanted.

Mine is The Christmas Gift with John Denver and Jane Kaczmarek. It's pretty sappy, but I really enjoy watching it each year.

USCBanker:

Yall are the only two people I have met that didnt like Bad Santa. Of course I know my parents wouldnt like it either. I know certain people that wouldnt like that movie. I dotn know yall so yall might be the type that I know wouldnt like it. As for me...I like movies like that. Of course they use the F word jsut to use it. Thats what made it funny to me. they said it at the exact perfect time every time. BBT just drinking all the time was great. He really did a good job playing the part, even though its probably like his real life. I didnt think my girlfriend would like it either...but she ended up loving it. I warned her about the language and how vulgar the movie is. I think you have to know about that before you watch it. If you dont like a movie with a lot of cussing and vulgar material...this isnt your movie. Ill admit. But as far as there being no point to the movie...that is not true. They were knocking over a department store. What else do you need to know. By the way, a movie doesnt really have to have a plot to be great. Dazed and Confused was a great movie!

How could you not laugh with that midget fell after getting hit in the ...... I laughed so hard I cried. I watched it over and over again.

if you're going to curse alot, you have to use it properly, especially in the movies. it adds emphasis to phrases but if it's overused, it doesn't work. some phrases, they just put it in there to be 'bad'.
if you watch kevin smith movies, he uses it in the right parts. if you overuse it, it's not funny.
did that make any sense?
i did like the little kid though.

do you want some sandwiches?

White Christmas - watching this on the Friday after Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the Christmas season at my house. And you better be ready to sign along!

I also love both the old and new versions of Miracle on 34th Street.

Wouldn't even stop for a second to watch Bad Santa or any others of this ilk. Guess I'm just old-fashioned and think there are some things that shouldn't be subjected to this kind of ridicule.

The Homecoming (which lead to the series The Waltons) was really good and even though A Charlie Brown Christmas was not a movie, how can we have Chritstmas without it. The music was fantastic as was the speech Linus gave.

I remember the mice in the clock tower. That was The Christmas That Almost Wasn't, I believe. Joel Grey was the voice of Papa Mouse.

How about the one with Heat Miser and Cold Miser?

"They call me Heat Miser, whatever I touch, starts to melt in my clutch. I'm too much!"

I just watched "It's A Wonderful Life" for the first time and was largely unimpressed. The moral of the story was good but it seemed to take forever to get there.

My favorite Christmas movies are "Christmas Vacation" and "A Christmas Story."

"You'll shoot your eye out, kid."

Another vote for Christmas Vacation.

"Beaut-i-ful Clark"
"Eddie, can I get you something to eat, refill your eggnog, drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?"

Has anyone noticed that cousin Eddie is wearing a black dickie under his white v-neck sweater? Everytime I see it I notice something different and laugh all over again.

"It's a Wonderful Life" always gave bank examiners a bad name. I mean, coming to examine a bank on Christmas Eve? Get real!

Exactly. On Christmas Eve, examiners are standing with one foot out the door waiting for the Regional Office to release them (if they're even working.)

The last person out the door of the Regional Office would call the Field Offices to release them. Usually at the crack of noon Christmas Eve. Never any pre-notification.

Or an email would go out saying the FO supervisors could release people at 3. For those jobs that started early, a 3 pm release was never that great a deal.

Without a doubt "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott playing the part of Scrooge. Scott plays the most believable Scrooge I've ever seen. He was a truly great (and under appreciated) actor.
