what do you buy yourself for christmas?

Every year, no matter how hard I hint (left the ad on the table, circled with the words THIS IS WHAT I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS), I always seem to get the wrong thing for Christmas from my family. So, several years ago, I started buying myself a Christmas present, so I would always get what I wanted. This year, I bought a new road bike, with all the bells and whistles. I also bought an indoor trainer so I could ride when it get really cold here (really cold for us is about 50).
Does anyone else buy themselves anything?

I do. Last year I bought a Peter Arnold print that I loved and had it framed. I haven't decided what to get this year.

What bike did you get, Happy?
I usually buy myself a birthday gift, just to be safe. This year I got a pearl/semiprecious gem necklace that I wanted.

I bought myself a new PC and printer with everything I've been wanting on it. I always have to buy myself the LOTR DVDs and Harry Potter DVDs. My family just doesn't seem to understand that I would find those types of things a really great Christmas present!

I just bought myself a 2005 Harley Road King Custom. Haven't shared the good news with the wife yet, figured I would wait until Christmas Day so she won't be to mad.

Christmas shopping is the one time I do not place limits on myself. So, if I happen to see a nice sweater for me while looking for Aunt Joan's gift, I get it. While buying the wine for the cousins' gifts, I pick up some nice champagne for our personal Christmas dinner. Also, if there is something I really want, I wait until after Christmas to get it because 1) you never know when someone will actually listen to your hints or 2) it could be on sale!

Very nice. I have been shopping for a bike for a little while now and thought I found the one but due to some situations that have come up, I have had to wait. I am hoping at the beginning of the new year to have a new motor scooter. Nice plan by the way, lolol.

Luckily, I was with MOML when I saw it - the new Trans Siberian Orchestra CD. He looked at me disgustingly and said, "Don't buy anything for yourself before Christmas. Santa may have already gotten it for you. Geesh, you sure know how to ruin a surprise!" How would I know? How would I know?  Always keep the receipt in case of returns of duplicate gifts!

Nanwa - the new TSO CD is really, really good - just read the story line before listening to it. We went to their concert about 3 weeks ago and they have a new CD in the works for July, "but don't hold us to the date!" They performed a few of the cuts from what's coming -- it's going to be amazing....

I bought myself a 1954 Plymouth Belvedere 4-door sedan!
With a wife, 6 daughters, 3 cats, a dog and a job as Compliance Officer for a small community bank, I needed something to tinker with in all my spare time!

6 daughters? Sounds like you need to be buying a gun collection for future suitors, not a Belvedere...Of course, the arguement could also be made that with 6 daughters, you already did your share of tinkering...LOL
