Here is one that started at hunting camp, but ended up a holiday favorite along with the eggnog and homemade irish cream. (I can't find that one)

Homemade Kahlua

Take 40 oz water and 3 pounds of brown sugar and boil to make a simple syrup.

Take 30 oz water and 12-14 tablespoons of freeze dried coffee and bing to a boil for 5 minutes. (decaf is okay)

Mix both together and allow to cool to room temperature.

Once cool, add 2 oz of vanilla extract and a fifth of grain alcohol. Stir and bottle.

Tastes every bit as good as the storebought stuff at 1/3 the price.

This recipe was created when they were still using fifths instead of the 750ml bottles so the recipe may be a little weak depending on your taste. If you like it stronger, you can either add more grain or reduce the water a bit.

You can buy it in Delaware and in New Jersey. You CAN buy it in Pa., but you need a permit for it. Like a dentist would for sterilizing medical equipment, etc. It seems that some college students abused it and one died, so after the crusaders ent screaming to the state, they enacted their typical feel-good legislation and banned it for everyone. (It was 20% more expensive in Pa. anyway) It is $14. a fifth in Delaware.
