Over the Christmas holidays we had the ice and snow storm- some people around us are still without power. The county I work in had 5,200 power poles snap because of the storm. It was awful. Now with the melting of this all - we now are dealing with flood waters and it isn't any fun driving in the dark and coming across high water! Now we are under another winter storm watch which is suppose to bring us freezing rain and alot of ice starting at midnight tonite. The new year isn't starting off real good- I'd rather have the snow than this water and ice stuff. To top it off next week we have state examiners here for 3 weeks for safety and soundness. Oh well Happy New Year- we'll make it through it all - at times tho this weather can be frustrating.

A great motto is, "It's always worse somewhere else". Be glad you aren't a victim of the tsunami, or are an employee/former employee of Riggs or Enron.

Keep your chin up. It will get better. And it's easier to look up that way.

Pulling people out of the ditc...
I agree. Here in Louisiana, we had snow in New Orleans on Christmas day, and sleet in much of the rest of the state. Since then, it has been rather balmy. Today is 78 degrees, and these temps are supposed to stay with us through at least Sunday. I'm so jealous of those of you with snow, who get cool weather, who get to shovel their driveways just to open their garage door, who can wreck their cars in ice storms, who lose power for weeks on end...Oh, wait, I'm not jealous at all.

Guys, move south, that is all I can offer.

Way, way south.
Patrice, Take a short vacation for a few days. If you use one of the holidays (MLK Day is a good week) and go somewhere warm you can recharge and rejuvinate enough to get through the next two or three months.

"They" are predicting 4 to 12 inches of snow in the Chicago area before it stops tomorrow night. Oh well, it is winter in Chicago, what else can we expect.

Send some snow to me. I'll take it over the cold. We are currently at -25 degrees.

Yup, looks like an ice storm here before some snow. Whatever happened to snow days?

Fortunately I live only about 15 to 20 minutes from my bank but on a bad snow day that still seems too far away!!. The drive in to work this morning was ok but if the weather people are right, going home will be horrible. I have a college intern for the christmas break that lives in Chicago and we are in Hinsdale, think I'll send her home early.

Most of the snow will be gone, and just a few of the ice patches will be around. Little slush....

Actually it will be 24 hours of sunshine at approximately 70 degrees all dang day and night You'll LOVE it!

Plan on a night in Anchorage to eat at Jens or Corsair. Suprise your sweetie with this treat. Only the locals know where they are and they're the BEST restaurants in the state I've had other BOLers hit them with rave reviews and notes from their spouses saying "how did you know about this joint"

Daydreaming - any good ideas for shore excursions in Ocho Rios? the beach horseback ride, perhaps?

Don't know if it's SADD but all the precipitation also means lack of sunshine, so thinking about upcoming luscious vacations is helping....

Further South than I wanna be.
What a fun day this is. Ice storm, up to an inch on the trees. Lots of people without electricity. Today it snowed on top of the ice. It is now in the low 20s. Mother nature is sticking her tongue out at us after letting us have such a warm Christmas week.
