One of my kids got me one of those daily sports calendars for Christmas. Every day they list five athletes whose birthday is that day. I know what sport most of them play but I draw a blank on some. It's fun just seeing some of these names and remembering when they played!
Do you know the sport played by each of today's birthdays (without googling of course )? One step further- if was a team sport, can you name one team the person played (or plays) for?

Mac Speedie 1920
Joe Frazier 1944
Tom Dempsey 1947
Dominique Wilkins 1960
Jocelyn Thibault 1975

Frazier was a boxer, and wasn't Dempsy a football player?

You all got Fraizer, Dempsey and Wilkins (the Human Highlight Film!) right away. Thibault is a current athlete (sort of), adn I'm clueless on Speedie, although Happy could be right....

Mac Speedie was a wideout for the evil Cleveland Browns. (Yes, I know this because I'm a Bengals fan!

Joe Frazier was a boxer.

Dempsey was a kicker in the NFL for someone, I can't remember who.

Thibault I THINK was a Chicago Blackhawk?

Wilkins was in the NBA as an Atlanta Hawk, and was also a part of the original "Dream Team"

MP, thanks for clearing up the Mac Speedie mystery. What a great cartoon or movie character name. And you got Thibault as well- hockey goalie who plays or played for Chicago, although he's playing golf somewhere with the rest of the NHL now.
5 more names to come tomorrow.

The first name kinda throws you off. I could get only the same 3 that most everyone else got. Although I had heard the last one.

I found an article on the web about him that used the words "he," "him," and "his." Instantly, I thought it was a clue to the gender of this mystery athlete. I am pretty quick on the uptake with those things.

Not only does Tom Dempsey hold the record for longest field goal in the NFL (63 yards) but he only had half of a foot. And it was is kicking foot!

He may have played for the Saints during his career, but he broke the record as an Eagle.

Milty , I didn't look it up but he was a Saint when he kicked the 63 yarder. Only reason I remember is that it was against my beloved Lions and it won the game.

O.K. folks here's today's birthdays. Rules review: name the sport they played, and if a team sport, extra credit for naming one of the teams they played for. No googling I thinkg it's a little toughter than yesterday:

Tom Gola 1933
Bob Baffert 1953
Mark O'Meara 1957
Kelly Hrudey 1961
Kevin Mitchell 1962

Bob Baffert owns racehorses
Mark O'Meara is a golfer
Kevin Mitchell was a baseball player

I won't cheat and look up the other two, but I've at least heard of Kelly Hrudy.
