We have a County Redevelopment authority that sponsors a computer learning center. The track record shows that the learning center users are more than 50% minority or from low income areas. If we make a contribution we would receive State educational Improvement Tax Credits. Can we claim this as an investment or would we need to show as Community Development? Thanks

Further South than I wanna be.
I would count it as a community development investment (of the grant/donation type)

The fact that they are 50% minority has no effect on CRA. Are they over 50% LMI? If so, you can take it as a CRA CD Investment. It's also an investment for the bank on the tax credit side. FYI, all of my ed tax credits are used for CRA CD programs so I do get that double whammy
