While conducting a review of adverse action notices I came across a loan denial for an applicant who's D.O.B. was in 1983 and the fraud alert from trans union stated the following: input ss# was issued from 1936-1950. Input SS# was used in death benefits claim (giving a specific name, D.O.B., and last residence of person with SS# match).

I think this information would warrant a SAR to be filed. The problem is the loan application and credit report is dated back in March 2005. Should we file a late SAR or what should be done?

Does anyone have a reply for me? I'd appreciate it.

I would file, better late than never. I would also document why this was not brought to your attention at the time and put policies and procedures in place to prevent it from happening again.

Just my opinion.
