I used to think so, but I'm losing faith. Can anyone restore it?

Take a look at the many threads in this forum where complete strangers offer comfort and support to those in need. How's that for restoration?

I like to think everybody is good. Sometimes you got to look a little deeper, but it's there.

Now, politicians, you gotta go REALLY deep!

As someone who lost a child recently, Yes, there are many! Those little acts of kindness that people do, mean so much when you're hurting.

Ix-you just gave an example of your first post, did you realize that? That made me smile.

Huh...yeah, I guess I did. Well, I am just one of many here on BOL that I have seen wish well and offer prayers for those hurting or in need. It is very heartwarming and I do hope the Anon who recently lost their child takes comfort in the strength of others. I can't imagine his/her loss right now.

I believe that there is good in everyone. Sometimes certain circumstances that people are put into or pushed into or choices that they make sometimes brings out the worst in people.

I find that the kindness you show to people usually is returned to you.

My Mother-in-Law says that you can never really give love and kindness away, because it will always come back to you. I have a great M-I-L.

There are more "good" people on this earth than there has ever been before. Think about the Nazi attrocities, slavery for thousands of years for people all over the world, geoside (or whatever it is when they try to kill everyone of a cetain culture...).

Our news media is so thorough, they try not to let us miss anything, unfortunatly most of it is bad - that is what sells.

We are getting better all cultures, religions, race's and face's! We have to - the world is shrinking.

I prefer dogs to people. If people were more like dogs, this world would be a better place.

...Or dolphins! If people were more like dolpfins it would be a better place. Of course we would need more water.

Just kidding. I love dogs, dolphins and people. Except for that Lender in ------- he realy is a bear or maybe a pig.

True story...A handicapped dad and his son were traveling in their vehicle on a mountain road near Lake Tahoe. The dad, although in a wheelchair, was driving his modified mini-van. A few miles off Highway 50 (route linking CA to Nevada), the dad noticed smoke coming out of the engine. Within minutes, the mini-van was engulfed in flames. The dad told his son to get out of the van which he did, however the son, who was only eight years old could not do much to help his dad. By now the mini-van was fully engulfed and the dad was resigned to the fact that he was going to burn alive. Just then he felt someone opening the door on his side and saying something that he could not understand. The man grabbed him by his shoulders and dragged the dad out of the van far enough so he was safe, and then left. After fire and ambulance responded, the dad tried to find who the angel who saved his life was. Three days later, they found the man who saved his life. The last I heard the dad was trying to convey his gratitude towards the stranger who saved his life through an interpreter. The Good Samaritan speaks very little English.

I think so - I lost my wallet a couple of years ago, cash and credit cards included. I obviously cancelled the cards but I was sure the cash was gone. About an entire year had passed and I got a call from the local library saying my wallet was dropped in their book drop. When I went to get it everything was still there!! An entire year later...proof to me that some good people still exist.

There are LOTS of good people out there, and this is a great time of year to go say hello to many of them. Take a look between 7 and 9am any weekday morning on busy street-corners, and you'll most likely see volunteer crossing guards, lots of times retired people or stay-at-home moms who get up out of warm beds and houses to go out and smile and greet little kids on their way to school - for no reward other than a wave and a smile from these kids... and knowing that the kids make it safely across the streets.

If that's not pure goodness, I dunno what is, and I love this time of year and make sure I wave hi to the crossing guards I see every morning.
