I am a one-person audit shop (for now) in a community bank. Starting with existing programs and then making changes, additions, etc. as needed is a big time saver. I am looking for update opinions on good sources for audit programs. I am aware of Auditnet. Are there any other good sources you can recommend? Thanks.

Bank Internal Auditing manuals by Jerry Felicelli. Published by Warren, Gorham and Lamont. ICBA has some good resources too.

Jeff: Institute of Internal Auditors at www.theiia.org

If you join, they have a mag they publish (online and paper) with sample audit programs. For an extra $40 you can also join the financial services group - - - more newsletters with sample audits!

And there's the networking aspect - - - trading with your peers.

I bought a manual of bank audits, too. Same thing.....just tweaked them for our shop. It came from RIA. Even has a disk with workpapers. It was a good investment for starting from scratch.

Good luck to you.

RIA.thomson.com

I use their on-line tool "CheckPoint"
you can research articles, ICQ, Audit programs as well as full access to the Audit Manual and other references.

Storm: I passed on even evaluating Checkpoint. Any features/benefits to share? There is no cost listed and I have always been a believer in "if you have to ask....."

Check out the financial managers society. The sell a collection of internal audit programs and also sell the Internal Audit Desk Reference. I would recommend the Internal Audit Desk Reference because it is a great manual and also includes the collection of audit programs.

Cornfed,
I am a one person shop in a community bank. I use Checkpoint for programs and ICQ. It is also a very good resource for just researching. I have listed the links that I have in the package I purchased. I had looked at Sheshunoff's similar product but I thought the programs were not very meaty. I also have FMS collection of internal audit programs. Personnally I like Checkpoint better. The subscription price changes depending on what you want to access, mine runs 1,300 per year. I think for a little over 100 bucks a month it is worth it.
