Reg. DD 230.8(a) states that you cannot advertise a deposit product as "free" if there is a maintenance fee imposed on the account. Our marketing department wants to advertise a deposit product offering "free services" and disclosing that the account requires a minimum balance to avoid a service charge. The services being offered with the deposit product are in fact free as there is no minimum balance required for the services. I have read that offering services as "free" is permissable under Reg. DD. Is this correct?
