Do merchants have to respond within a certain time period to dispute a reg e claim or a timeframe for the settlement date? For example, I'm looking at our logs and seeing that there are several settlement dates that are well past the 90 day timeframe. Does the Bank have someone to complain to (VISA?) about merchants taking too long??

Thanks,

Duke

Not understanding your question completely. Are you referring to timeframes for merchants to provide a requested sales draft, timeframes to respond to a chargeback or something else? For the first two parts, the answer is yes under Visa and Mastercard Rules and Regulations. For the draft retrieval, the merchant has 30 days to respond, domestic and international under Visa Rules and 30 days domestic and 45 days international under MasterCard rules. Merchants also have 45 days to respond from the date of a chargeback under both Visa and MasterCard, domestic and international. If the merchant does not respond to a draft request within timeframes there are chargebacks available to you, if the merchant does not respond to a chargeback, they take the loss. Hope this helps.
