We have an insurance check payable to two individuals designated with "AND". We realize that we need to obtain the endorsement of both payees to negotiate the check. Our dilemma is that one individual lives out of state and is not available to endorse the item. To complicate matters, we do not have a joint account for both payees. How do we proceed to obtain the unavailable party's endorsement and negotiate the check?

Has the customer gone back to the insurance company, and asked to have separte checks cut perhaps?
