Notary Witnessing Mortgage with Two Signatures
by Andy Zavoina, BOL Guru Guru BIOS
Question: Someone has recently told me that a mortgage with two signatures needs to be witnessed by the Notary for one name and a different person for the other. I have never heard of this. Can you advise please?
Answer: I have never heard of needing a separate Notary for each person signing. I would go back to your source and ask them for a citation. This may be a state law issue, but it would surprise me unless there are some special considerations here of which we are not aware.
