New Money and FRB Offices

Question: How can I tell what the F.R.B. destination is for the new $20 bills? The old $20's had the letter that represented whether the bill came from New York, NY or VA. etc...

Answer: According to the information at www.moneystore.gov, the new currency designs have dropped the "letter seal" that included an "A" for Boston, "L" for San Francisco, etc., in favor of the seal of the Federal Reserve System. Additionally, the link between the first character of the serial number and the district is gone. What has surfaced as the only identifier of the issuing Fed branch is the letter-number combination (such as "B2" for the Second district office (New York)) that appears just below the serial number on the left of the portrait.
