Member FDIC Logo on Bank-Sponsored School Sign?
Answer by John Burnett, BOL Guru

Question: If my bank donates a monument sign to, let's say, a school, and the bank's logo is displayed on the monument sign, does the Member FDIC logo have to be displayed as well?
Answer: You wouldn't need to use the FDIC logo in any event, since you could simply indicate "Member FDIC." Under the current regulation, it's unclear whether what you describe is an advertisement. Under the new regulation, I think it is. However, if the advertisement (if that's what it is) doesn't include your bank's name (you said it displayed your logo), the FDIC's official advertising statement doesn't have to appear.
