Question: Do most banks require certificate of deposit customers to bring in their original certificates at redemption time? If not, what do they require for proof of ownership?
Answer: Since most paper CDs are nothing but receipts, and the paper has no actual value (not negotiable), proper identification of the rightful owner is all that is normally necessary.
