What do I do About a Hostile Branch Manager?
Answer by Jim Bedsole, BOL Guru Guru Bios
Question: As a VP and senior commercial lender of a bank, how should I react to the following: If I witness hostile treatment by a branch manager to people who report to her, how should I react? Should I do nothing, or report it to executive management? If executive management refuses to act, then what do I do?
Answer: I would definitely report this to the HR director. He or She is generally trained on how to respond to hostile workplace scenarios. Also, if your bank has a whistle-blower system, you might want to report this there as a hostile workplace issue. Hopefully in doing that, folks that have independence from even executive management (audit committee for example) will be able to address any under-reaction from management to what is potentially a very risky situation for the bank.
