LLP Account Changes
by John Burnett, BOL Guru
Guru Bio
Question: A LLP has requested a name change and the removal of a signer on a account. The LLP has provided the filing of the name change with the Secretary of State. Can the current account be changed or should a new account be opened?
Answer: Assuming that the entity has continued to exist and has only changed its name, you should be able to continue with the old account. This presumes that there will be no EIN change. Change the name to conform to the new filing with the state, update your signers in the same way you would if there had been no name change (documentation, etc.) and you're done.
