Question: Is there a regulation that requires the city and state where the account is opened to be printed on a check? We use a standard routing number for control disbursement checks for six states, but do not print the city and state where the account was opened.
Answer: I know of no such requirement.
A requirement such as this would hamper the sale of check printing programs for personal computers and the advertisements in the Sunday papers selling checks cheaper than many banks. I haven't seen these slow down or impose such a requirement.
