Question:Are you required to complete Pandemic testing separate from Business Continuity Plan testing? Can you use the Pandemic testing for the BCP testing?
Answer: We are talking different events, so yes, you will need to test aspects of the Pandemic Plan and BCP separately, especially if there are different procedures depending on the event. Part of pandemic planning is to develop assumptions, so your testing should encompass those assumptions. The pandemic event may entail a prolonged absence of the workforce, and may possibly be repetitive as pandemics usually hit in waves. You just need to look at each plan and when you develop your test plans make sure you are covering all aspects of continuity and recovery.
