In January, we added four new tools and updated another in the Banker Tools section on BankersOnline.com.

Sarah Poff of Lowcountry National Bank, Beaufort, SC, contributed a tool to facilitate the transfer of a completed financial statement to you from another lender. The Certification of Personal Financial Statement will make your loan process more efficient.

The Edcomm Group has contributed a tool, an Executive SOX Primer to train new and seasoned executive officers in Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. This audio-visual presentation will cover the basics for them.

Another tool contributed by The Edcomm Group is a flash-based program called "World of Banking". It has banking history and facts, along with basic training, games and fun that will help train your staff.

This flash-based tutorial, Banking for Servicemembers, from The Edcomm Group will assist everyone from compliance and auditing to lenders, operations officers and collectors. David Dickinson, of Bankers Compliance Consulting, has updated his original HOEPA Calculator which he made available for the last few years. If you're having your high-cost loans checked, as they need to be, you need this update as it includes the 2006 trigger amount. Old versions of the program need to be updated.
GeoDataVision is a new vendor in the Banker Store! Two CDs, Mortgage Market Report and Small Business Lending Report, give detailed information about lenders and borrowers, including such borrower characteristics as: race, income, loan amounts, loan type, etc., that is extracted from the official federal databases and used by regulators when they evaluate your institution's performance under CRA and HMDA.

  • This month, we welcome our newest guru Don Pape. Donald A. Pape, Esq., is of counsel to the Oklahoma City law firm, Phillips McFall McCaffrey McVay & Murrah, P.C. and primarily practices banking law and regulation, corporate and securities law with emphasis in mergers and acquisitions. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1967 and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1973 from the University of Oklahoma.

    Mr. Pape is a member of the Cleveland County, Oklahoma County, the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. In 1988, he was a founding shareholder and counsel to Republic Bank of Norman, where he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1990.

    Don served as a member of the Article 8 Legislative Review Subcommittee of the Oklahoma Bar Association's Financial Institutions and Commercial Law section of the Uniform Commercial Code Committee. He is also a member of the Oklahoma Banking Commissioner's Banking Code Review Committee. While on the Code Review Committee, he authored several of the revised parts of the Oklahoma Banking Code of 1998. He currently serves as Vice-Chair for Policy on the Banker's Advisory Board of the US Conference of State Bank Supervisors.
