Randy Carey Named Most Valuable Guru for October

 We are pleased to present the September "Most Valuable Guru" award to Randy Carey.
Randy, an independent regulatory compliance and bank management consultant, has nearly 30 years of banking experience combined with a broad base of banking operations knowledge. A former member of the Community Reinvestment Leadership Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, he has also served as an instructor for both the American Institute of Banking and the Oregon Bankers Compliance Schools. Randy takes an active role as a BOL Guru answering questions in detail and imparting his extensive knowledge in the areas of compliance, operations and security.

You've seen the guru questions and answers. You probably knew the answer to some as well, and in some cases, there is more than one answer. Here is your chance to strut your stuff and show what you know.
Each month we'll feature one question that has been asked of the Gurus in the new UBtheGuru Forum . Reply to it in the threads. If you see an answer already but have a better one, post yours. A new tool was added to the Banker Tools section during September.
Thanks to CC Pace for providing this 5-Step Risk Assessment Checklist". You may use it first preparing for multifactor authentication risk analysis, but may also expand the basic principles to other assessments you'll need to do on a regular basis.
Banker's Compliance Consulting updated two tools they have provided, the Escrow Analysis tool and the HOEPA Worksheet. If you use either of these now, get the updates. If you don't use them now, check them out to ensure you are calculating escrow disclosures correctly and identifying high cost loans.
TRC Interactive has developed a formula to help you calculate the true cost of training. Using this "Calculating the Cost of Training" spreadsheet you enter four variables and can determine the cost of training and find the balance in your student:teacher ratio.
