Three new tools were added to the Banker Tools section during October.
Overdraft Protection Programs are all the rage. You decide if the rage is good or bad and if you want to advertise ODPs or not. If you do, here are 22 scenarios that tell you when the advertising and statement rules are triggered, and if you don't want to advertise ODP, the same 22 scenarios will be of interest to you. What you should do and avoid is on the Courtesy Overdraft Program Advertising Matrix.
Len Suzio, with GeoDataVision, updated his popular analytical tool introduced first with the 2004 community development loan data. The 2005 data was submitted by financial institutions across the country in early 2006 and compiled for your use here. 2005 Community Development Report - by State, by Lender is a report you should use for, among other things, peer analysis. This year's report is even bookmarked. Len did this in response to requests from users so you can more easily get to the state data you want to see.
Marcia Baker of Hillsboro Bank uses BOL tools. When she needed basic Reg. Z training for commercial lenders, she couldn't find anything, so she authored her own, and shared it for you, in case you too need this type of training. This is a 14-slide PowerPoint covering the background, definitions, exemptions and more.

The 660,000 messages currently on Bankers' Threads contain an amazing mix of wisdom, humor, and practical information. We've tightened down on registration for posting in virtually every area. We believe this has greatly reduced the number of spam posts you may have seen. If you do see one, we appreciate your reporting it so that we can remove these offensive posts. To report a post to a moderator, at the bottom of each post there is a line starting with "Post Extras:" and the third icon will notify a moderator of a post that is in question. We encourage you to review and contribute to the threads. Below you'll find links to last month's most popular discussions.
