On June 14, 2002, FDIC issued four fraud alerts. Three deal with fraudulent checks. A fourth deals with stolen bank note paper, including paper that has been discovered to have been used to counterfeit birth certificates and death certificates.
Watch for fictitious cashier's checks bearing the name "Millennia Funding, A Community Bank" with an address of 2800 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC and a telephone number 704-588-7672.
There is no bank in North Carolina named Millennia Funding. The routing number used on the checks, 053112343, is assigned to the Millennia Community Bank in Greenville, North Carolina. It has no offices in Charlotte.
Fictitious cashier's checks are also in circulation bearing the name Adelanto Business Savings & Trust, which does not exist in the United States. The routing number used on these phony checks is assigned to California Chohung Bank, Los Angeles, California.
Fraudulent checks bearing the name "St. Genevieve Bank & Trust" in St. Genevieve, MO have also been reported. The St. Genevieve Bank & Trust does not exist. The routing number, 08190356, is that assigned to the Bank of Ste. Genevieve, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri - a legitimate bank.

BIRTH - DEATH CERTIFICATE STOCK STOLEN
In a continuing alert from the Denver County Colorado Vital Statistics Office, we have now learned more security paper that was supposed to be destroyed is instead being used for fraudulent documentation. One piece was recently presented at a Social Security Office in the form of a birth certificate. It is not known how much of the paper may be in circulation.
