Fraudulent Purchase - Require a Police Report?
Answer by David Dickinson, BOL Guru Guru Bios
Question: Can a bank require a customer to fill out a police report before investigating a fraudulent purchase on a debit card (x-girlfriend stole card)? I know we have to give provisional credit.
Answer: No, but you can ask them if they did. You can file a police report yourself, but you can't require them to do so.
