USA Patriot Act Signage
Answer by David Dickinson and Hussam Al-Abed, BOL Gurus
Guru Bios

Question:  Can you tell me if signage for the USA Patriot ACT must me at a certain size, color, etc and must it be posted at teller window's and at new accounts desks, or can it simply be posted in a main area of the branch?

Answer by David Dickinson:  Refer to §103.121(b)(5). Customers must be notified about the fact that the financial institution will request information to verify their identities. The notification must be provided prior to the opening of the account. The notice can be provided orally, by posting a notice in the lobby where customers will be likely to see it, on a website, signs on desks, etc. There is no size or color requirement.

Answer by Hussam Al-Abed:  Just make sure to use the colors of the US flag for any signs or leaflets. Patriotism is a great feeling that makes customers forget the hassle of asking for extra information by the bank personnel.
