Requirement for Workplace Violence Policy?
Answer by Dana Turner, BOL Guru
BIO AND CONTACT INFO

Question: Is there going to be a requirement in the near future in the banking industry for a workplace violence policy?

Answer: Both the Bank Protection Act and Regulation H require institutions to develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures designed to prevent robberies. Many states (CA is the best example) have adopted strict workplace violence prevention guidelines -- using OSHA's model. The states' guidelines relate to EVERY business -- and they often include significant civil and criminal sanctions for non-compliance.

The best way to find out what your state requires is to visit the state's website. Searching for the key phrase "workplace violence" should help you locate the appropriate regulation.
