Yet Another Not-Too-Brilliant Robber
John S. Burnett, Associate Editor
Don't be surprised if the staff at the Bank of the West in Englewood, CO, are still chuckling, now that the bank robber is in custody.
The bank was held up on September 5, when Forest Kelly Bissonnette, 27, allegedly demanded a teller hand over cash, using a note -- written on one of his own checks. According to the FBI, Bissonnette had tried to black out his name, but it could still be read.
To compound his error, Bissonnette bragged about getting $5,000 in a bank robbery, according to a police tipster.
Apparently realizing the authorities would soon be on his heels, Bissonnette turned himself in two days after the robbery.
