Happy Holidays, You're Under Arrest!
John Burnett, BOL Guru
He may have had the holiday spirit. He may have just not wanted to "stick out" by saying no. Whatever his reason, Gregory Stacey made it easy for police to track him down after robbing the Carolina Postal Credit Union in late October.
When he approached tellers at the Credit Union, they asked him if he'd like to pick a holiday greeting card to be sent to service members in Iraq.
When Stacey returned to the teller window with the card he'd chosen from a lobby rack, he brandished a gun and ordered the teller to fill a shopping bag with cash.
Then he fled, leaving the greeting card behind ... with fingerprints that police matched to those on Stacey's record.
According to police, the card did offer Christmas wishes to American troops. It's unlikely that this card will get delivered, however. It will be needed as evidence.
