GREG BENSON

Formerly Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Company, handling day-to-day compliance activities and serving as Bank Secrecy Act ("BSA") and Community Reinvestment ("CRA") Officer, Greg currently offers his extensive experience as a bank consultant. For four years prior to joining Burke & Herbert, he was Director, Compliance and Security, for E*TRADE Bank, the nation's largest pure-play Internet bank. During that time he assisted in the apprehension and conviction of the largest check fraud ring in U.S. history ($40 million). Prior to joining E*TRADE Bank, he served as Senior Consultant for Professional Bank Services, Inc. where he provided training and consulting to the OTS, FDIC and various large and small financial institutions on Deposit Compliance issues, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy, Privacy and Check Fraud Detection and Prevention. Greg also served on the Technical Services and Government Affairs staff focusing on security, operations, retail banking and technology initiatives for the national trade association, America's Community Bankers. He was a member of the U.S.Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network ("FinCEN") Bank Secrecy Advisory Group for five years.
JOHN BURNETT Associate Editor, BankersOnline.com, Centerville, MA
John Burnett is a 1979 alumnus of the ABA National Compliance School, and served on its faculty for several years. He graduated with honors with the Class of 1990 from ABA's Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and is also a graduate of the BAI and the Massachusetts Banker Association Schools of Banking. He began his banking career in high school when he started as a teller at a $15 million bank that didn't have account numbers for its checking accounts (he says they actually filed by signature!) He joined Cape Cod Bank and Trust Company in 1971 and assumed the position of Compliance Officer in 1976. He also served as corporate secretary and secretary of CCBT's Board of Directors, as well as Clerk of the bank's holding company. He joined Glia Group, Inc., and became a part of the BankersOnline.com team in June, 2004. Mr. Burnett was a member of the Massachusetts Bankers Association Legal and Regulatory Compliance Committee, and of the American Bankers Association Compliance Executive Committee and NCS/NGCS Advisory Board. JIM CEREP

Jim Cerep began his third career in October, 2006 with American Video Services, a full service security company servicing banks and businesses in the New England area, as a Security Consultant/Sales Representative. He was Director of Security for two southeastern Massachusetts-based banks from 1989 to 2006. While with the banks, he was active and held the President’s position for six years in the Southeast Bank Security Network, a fraud group made up of bank Security Officers and Police. He also served on the Massachusetts Bankers Fraud Committee, and was a member of IAFCI and the Massachusetts Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bryant University and an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Roger Williams University, both in Rhode Island. He was also a graduate of the University of RI Criminology School and was the Department’s Crime Scene Investigator for 10 years. His final assignment before retiring was as Head of the Prosecution Division. Jim is still very active in a number of law enforcement organizations both in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Jim has attended the Bankers’ Hotline Security Officer’s Workshop for the past 10 years.
