MALEKA ALI, CAMS

Maleka has over 27 years experience servicing the financial community in areas of operations, compliance and risk management. Before joining Banker's Toolbox in 2005, she worked at several financial institutions where she developed operational, compliance and training policies and procedures. She also helped develop products that assist financial institutions and corporations with their compliance to laws and regulations. Maleka has addressed the subject of BSA/AML/OFAC compliance and its various applications including risk assessment management, fraud and Identity theft at various national conferences as well as at several financial and corporate compliance organizations.

DAVID BATTLE
Security Specialist, St. Louis, MO

As a security practitioner in the private sector security industry, David served as Investigator, Security Training Specialist and Security Officer for Boatmen's Banchshares, Inc. (now Bank of America) for 18 years. He served as an original member of the Board of Regents of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (1988 - 1990). Battle still serves as white-collar crime's investigator and consultant for industry, financial institutions, attorneys, law enforcement and media. His programs have been taught in 41 states and have been attended by more than 200,000 bankers and Federal, State and local law enforcement agents from all over the country. David has presented programs in our previous Security Officer Workshops and evaluations always request his return.

JANICE BRANCH
Senior Training Consultant, InterAction Training Systems, Montgomery, TX

Janice Branch has been a senior training consultant for InterAction Training Systems for fifteen years. She is a very seasoned presenter that has all the right stuff to captivate an audience. Before joining ITS, Janice was the Senior Manager of Training for Consolidated Communications where she managed, designed, coordinated and presented training programs for this multi-state telco with over 1000 employees. Janice is an expert when it comes to teaching the audience to communicate. Her expertise, energy and enthusiasm spark high marks from participants.

JOHN BURNETT

With over 36 years of experience in all areas of banking behind him, there isn't much that goes on in the financial industry that John hasn't handled before. His thorough knowledge of Operations and his work with Cape Cod Bank and Trust prepared him for his position as Guru on BankersOnline.com. John graduated with honors from ABA's Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He is also a graduate of the ABA National Compliance School, and served on its faculty for several years. He is now part of Glia Group as well as the BankersOnline team. John serves as an advisor to the Bankers' Hotline.

MIKE EPPLE

Mike has been working with financial institution security officers for almost 30 years, and currently is a member of the ASIS International, and both the Delaware and Maryland Associations of Bank Security. He was a field service representative for ICI Security Systems in 1980, installing cash protection systems in the form of Dye Pacs. Following the change over to 3SI, Mike was named the 2005 Account Executive of the year. He now assists financial institutions and others in the installation of Electronic Satellite Pursuit, Security Pack Electronic Protection System, and Octopus ATM Protection in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

MARY BETH GUARD, ESQ., CEO, Glia Group

With her background as an attorney, Mary Beth has worked as a banking regulator, counsel for a state bankers association, and has been an active speaker and writer on banking subjects. Co-Founder of BankersOnline.com, Mary Beth utilizes many facets of the Internet in developing and maintaining the banking site. She has presented programs for many national banking organizations, the FFIEC, and more than a dozen state associations. She has taught at the ABA National Bank Compliance School and served for several years on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. In a career spanning more than 25 years, she has gained a national reputation as a banking attorney, speaker, writer and Internet expert. Mary Beth also serves as an advisor to the Bankers’ Hotline.

BARBARA E. HURST
Editor, Bankers' Hotline, President, Hurst Associates, Inc., Brookhaven, PA

Barbara entered the banking industry in 1970 for a large Philadelphia bank. When she left to start her own business in 1986 her department had expanded to cover investigations, claims, security training, operations and money laundering compliance. She has been teaching these subjects and others in 48 states and internationally to bankers, government agencies, and law enforcement. In 1991, in partnership with George Milner, the Bankers' Hotline came into existence. 14 years ago the partnership produced the first Security Officers Workshop. In her position as editor of the Bankers' Hotline, she works at staying on top of what is happening in the banking industry. Her presentations combine information with humor, and she tends to attract speakers of similar talents to this workshop. She is a Guru on BankersOnline.com and also works with Bankers Video Library, writing scripts and appearing in training videos.

BOB MEISTER
Forensic Document Examiner, Noblesville, IN

After a 30 year career as a Professional Civil Engineer, Bob turned to the study of Graphology (the examination of handwriting strokes to determine personality traits). This led to his further investigation of handwriting, via the examination of document authenticity. He is now a Certified Forensic Document Examiner. With over 60 cases in his background, Bob has analyzed documents from over 30 states to determine their authenticity. He maintains a forensic laboratory using state of the art computer equipment, digital cameras and a stereo zoom microscope to aid in the examination and analysis of suspect writings. He has taught students for Handwriting University's School of Forensic Document Examination. In past years, he has made presentations at the annual convention of Document Examiners covering the preparation of court exhibits and the use of computers and computer graphics for analysis to determine document authenticity.

BRIEN O'CONNOR
President, Bankers Insurance Agency, Austin, TX

Beginning his career nearly 25 years ago, Brien is one of the few insurance agents in the country who specializes in Financial Institutions. Since 1989 Brien has worked for the Texas Bankers Association acting as an insurance agent for banks throughout the state. Today Brien and his agency - Bankers Insurance Agency - insure well over 250 banks in Texas. A real student of the insurance industry, Brien earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1985. Since joining TBA Brien has taught thousands of bankers and regulators insurance related topics to help them better understand their risk exposures.

SUSAN ORR
President, Susan Orr Consulting, Naperville, IL

Susan is a leading financial services expert with vast regulatory, risk management, and security best practice knowledge and expertise. During her 14 year tenure as a bank examiner, Susan held numerous lead positions including Special Assistant to the Vice Chairman of the FDIC. She was a lead instructor for the FDIC's technology school. Prior to launching her consulting practice, Susan was Vice President of Regulatory Compliance for an Internet security company where she advised staff, customers, and partners on regulation, security, and risk management. She has over 18 years experience in the IT regulatory field and speaks regularly at risk management and security seminars and conferences and has authored numerous white papers on emerging information technology and security risk management topics. Susan retains close relationships within the FFIEC agencies as well as industry trade groups to stay abreast on new technologies, best practices, and regulatory issues.

P. KEVIN SMITH, CPP

Kevin is the Corporate Security Director for Chevy Chase Bank in Bethesda, Maryland, a $13 billion federal Savings Bank in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area. Prior to that, he served as the Corporate Security Director for First American Bank in Nashville, Tennessee ('98 & '99) and Wilmington Trust Company in Wilmington, Delaware ('87 - '97). A retired Lieutenant from the Wilmington Police Department, Kevin holds a Master of Science degree in Administration, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, both from West Chester University, West Chester, PA. He is a Certified Protection Professional through the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Chairman of the ASIS Standing Committee on Banking & Financial Services, and a member of the Bank Administration Institute's Security Commission. Kevin has lectured throughout the country on matters related to major case investigations and bank security in general.

DANA TURNER
Security Education Systems, Pipe Creek, TX

Dana is a security practitioner based in Pipe Creek, Texas. He has served as a law enforcement officer in several capacities - including the investigation of business and banking crimes - and he is celebrating his 37th year of crime. As a speaker and conference facilitator, Dana has delivered thousands of platform, telephone and Internet presentations. He has designed and participated in continuing education programs offered by state and national banking and credit union associations, state and federal examining and law enforcement agencies - and state and national security, audit and human resources organizations. Dana has served as a community college instructor and administrator in both the law enforcement and business management fields - and as a program development specialist and trainer for private business, governmental agencies and professional associations. He is the author of the Financial Institution Security Library and he also serves as one of the moderators in BankersOnline's Security Forum.
