Microsoft Issues Collection of Security Fixes for Windows 2000
Trying to prove its point that security will become a top priority in 2002, Microsoft issued a collection of security patches for its Windows 2000 operating system. The release of Windows 2000 Security Rollup Package (SRP1) contains all security fixes released since Microsoft issued its Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 in May. This latest release contains important fixes that resolve several denial-of-service and buffer overflow vulnerabilities, in addition to a number of other security fixes.

The Windows 2000 Security Rollup Package requires that Service Pack 2 is installed on the users systems. Since many computer manufacturers only install the base operating system, many recently purchased machines may need to have Service Pack 2 installed prior to installing the SRP1. To determine if your system has the required Service Pack 2 installed on it, go to your Windows Control Panel and click on "Help", then click "About Windows". An "About Windows" box will contain the information regarding the Windows Version and any related Service Packs that have been installed.
