Counterfeit bank checks bearing the name First National Bank, Waynesboro, Georgia, are reportedly in circulation

First National Bank of Waynesboro, Waynesboro, Georgia, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit bank checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 061202245, which is assigned to First National Bank of Waynesboro. The items are similar to authentic bank checks; however, the counterfeit items display a security feature statement embedded in the top border. The words "AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE" appear below the signature line on the counterfeit items.

Authentic checks display a vertical security statement and padlock symbol within the right border. The words "AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE" appear above the signature line.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
